Our trust go-to, the crow 1287
Richard Holdener did a test where he looked at 112 v 110 v 108 LCA. Was on a LS engine if I recall correctly. He found the 108 produced the best results. I suspect a lot of cam companies can give you something that will improve power but can't tell you why. That is, call half a dozen and all will say something different.
If you have any vf2 ss ls3 head and cam package videos I would be keen to see the results

I see there is what looks to me a vt-vz slave cylinder installed. I thought that there had to be a spacer to suit it as they are different lengths compared to the normal VE slaves? I recently installed a earlier slave into my VE and had to run spacer etc, braided line to master cylinder and the remote bleeder extension(Made life so much easier) Clutch dissappearing to the floor no longer happens thank god.....

Definitely DOD, if manual it wont be activated electronically at all. But will still have all the DOD hardware phsically in the engine.
Hey what size is a/f on the rehousing
294 horsepower is pretty disappointing. Obviously nothing to do with you but i was expecting 350-400. I dont know much about Ls engines tho
This same combo in a car would probably be 350 whp. Landcruiser driveline is heavy though. Lots of rotating mass in the big gearbox, transfer case, big diff and big heaver wheels and tyres. All of which tax lots of power.
@@BoostGumps yeah that makes sense. I have an old 1hz cruiser that i turbod. Before the turbo it made 60whp and the engine is rated at 130. 50% horsepower tax is crazy but probably wouldnt be hard on a slug engine lol. If the 80 & Ls combo only tax 50hp out of 350 then thats not too bad then i suppose

Small parts you can put is a zip lock bag topped up with water and CT18. The tank itself just hot water the tank stayed clean that way.
Cool to see the little zook running properly. We had so many dramas getting the wiring working before my mate who owns it ended up just gutting it and starting again. Is a weapon to drive off-road. Especially being twin locked. 🤟
I could imagine it's a little weapon! Often with wiring thats the best move. Just start from scratch!

I would love to get the two step noise making going on my old supra but I've heard you can crack welds in your manifold or blow your turbo gaskets etc. Is this true?
Yeh definitely true. What you are essentially doing with 2step, is dumping excess fuel into the cylinder and delaying the ignition event excessively. The idea is to ignite that fuel once its already in the exhaust port, causing an explosion/rapid expansion directly in the exhaust. So having this happen can certainly blow out gaskets and wreck manifolds if not done correctly. Another risk is having this pop the exhaust valve back off the seat and opening it into a piston, so make sure you have decent valve springs!

Pretty cool builds. I turbo'd my Daihatsu Feroza back in the day. S15 BB turbo on 10psi it made 127 kw at the wheels. Was a blast to drive after that.

As much as I love RB's, that little blue golf cart would be such a weapon round some tight bush tracks. Congrats on a couple minimal issue tunes guys!

So am I right in saying that the stock 6l doesn't have enough compression for the 108 cam resulting in lower vacume therefore making it harder to tune
I should probably make a video explaining this in depth a bit better. What I should have explained is that the dynamic compression is most affected by the timing of the intake valve closing in relation to the induction/compression stroke. The later the intake closes, the more dynamic compression you will bleed. This doesnt always directly correlate with the lobe sepperation angle, but more accurately correlates with the intake lobe centreline and intake duration. By the time you open these engines up and allow them to breathe properly, plus a half decent cam, you generally will find in most cases that they lack enough compression and are not knock limited. This isn't exclusively the 6L, it applies to all stock bottom LS engine combos in our experience. Compression and Vacuum don't necessarily correlate either. Generally speaking, cams with more valve overlap create less vacuum as it slows air speed quite a bit at idle. Having very little vacuum can make them hard to tune, because in a speed density situation where we are tuning based on manifold pressure (vacuum) it shorten's up our window for tuning and we lose lots of resolution when compared to a cam that creates more vacuum. This isn't a problem for wide open throttle, but for transient and low throttle and cruise tuning, hence cams with very tight lobe sepperation angles are generally not used for street applications. (In EFI cars like LS's, you will find Carb'd cars will use much tighter LSA's, things like SBC and Carby LS combos need a tighter LSA cam) So yeh, although cam and valve events do affect both dynamic compression and vacuum, they do it in different ways which arent necessary linked.

How are the power brakes? Do they feel good and strong? I have a similar cam in my Caprice PPV. My cam is a Cam Motion Little Chopper, 222/232, .595"/.587", 108 LSA.

I’ve been reading a lot of David Vizards stuff on tight lsa. Using his formula this lsa is about 1 degree off been the correct. I would love to see more testing on tight lsa. As I’m looking at doing a head/cam package on my ls3. To help me make the right choice.
109 LSA is the perfect cam for a 6.0 according to DV. But, it's hard to find a .600" lift cam on a 109 to take advantage of the high flowing LS3 heads. So, by his data going narrower will be as good or better. I'm running a Cam Motion Little Chopper in my L77. It's on a 108 LSA.
Im not farmiliar with DV's work, but can add that from all our understanding and flow data that I have analysed from rectangle port heads, that I wouldn't necessarily use 600 lift as a minimum. CFM rarely continues after 580 from what I have seen. The lobe profile will make a bigger difference than the overall lift, the faster the valve gets to that 300 ish lift the better.
@@BoostGumps Thanks for the reply. Yes, the flow in the rec port heads level off after .580" or so (diminishing returns after that point). I wanted to make sure to go past that because there is some data suggesting that more lift (even when it doesn't look like it's needed) will produce more power. Eric Weingartner shows some data on his YT page that correlates the power increase from a few years ago. Does the power brakes work good on this car?
